INTRODUCTION
Warehousing and storage have always been a crucial link within a company’s supply chain. Increasing global competition is forcing an emphasis on efficiency on logistics and supply chain, and companies are recognizing the significant cost reduction that could be gained through effective warehouse management. The problems stem from the warehousing techniques of “yesterday” – where response times were measured in “days” , and the storage/materials handling equipment, techniques and processes did not focus on the optimal use of space and resources. This course will examine best practices in making warehousing operations efficient through a business centric strategic approach to help to reduce costs and increase profit for the companies.
