INTRODUCTION

The module provides a comprehensive introduction to the key elements of the business organization and its environment and provides an overview of the main functional areas of management. It focuses on the basic concepts and principles of management in organisations. The module helps to develop the analytical skills in dealing with management issues, relating concepts and theories to practical situations in organizations and applying the various tools and techniques of business management.

Objective

  • Understand the importance of knowing what and how the internal mechanisms work in an organization.
  • Understand how the PESTEL analysis works and to what extent it can help in understanding the external forces at play.
  • Explain the interrelations of the different functional areas of management.
  • Explain the four basic functions of management.
  • Understand the importance of the vision and mission statement of an organization.
  • Differentiate the different levels of strategy and how these strategies are implemented.
  • Make aware of the extent of how decision-making process can be rational in generating good business decisions
