On August 3rd this year, we handled a teambuilding Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) that was held in Kem Bina Negara Kaki Bukit Perlis. The participants were from public relations department and there were about 25 of them. In the “Modul Bengkel Pemantapan Perhubungan Awam”, we were to handle three slots for that particular day which include our signature program, the “Lego Serious Play”, a “Mini Explorace” and a “Mini Concert”.
The journey took about 8 hours and upon reaching the location, it was really a thrilling ride due to the fact that the road is really narrow and not to mention it’s in the middle of a forest! Greens everywhere! On the day of the program itself, we started as early as 7 am with light exercise and breeze walking around the lake on that beautiful morning. For the morning slot, the participants started with “Lego Serious Play” led by our in-house trainer, Ms Ashatika who is a well-trained Lego trainer and assisted by Mr Nizal. The “Lego Serious Play” was to benefit the participants about each other’s strength and weaknesses which is crucial for an organization to work together better. After the first slot, they had to play a little Mini Explorace where I helped out. The “Mini Explorace” was really to train them working in small teams and working together. I had fun handling a few parts of the Mini “Explorace” because you don’t always get to see people who work from 9 to 5 out of their comfort zone and the games in the “Mini Explorace” did that. They got really competitive but I believe that it is always good to be competitive in a sense that, you just want to be the best among the best. The last slot was called a “Mini Concert” where they had to organize a mock event or concert. This slot was to teach them working together as a whole. They were only given few hours to prepare and I must say they did a splendid job! They included all the little details that an event supposed to have. I was amazed by their capability to pull off a mock event in a short period of time. We ended the day with a little sharing session and certificate and prize giving ceremony.
The teambuilding was a success because everyone had fun and more importantly, they learnt something from all the activities we provided. It was indeed a exciting experience to able to work with new people in a new environment.
