INTRODUCTION

The course is designed to include basics of electricity supply systems used for industries, domestic and commercial buildings. It includes safety requirements, standards and codes for electrical installation works. Basic electrical wiring methods and practice have been presented. Working of different types of Electric Motors has been explained. Electrical system and neutral grounding methods have been thoroughly discussed. Shock hazards and the protection against it have been highlighted. Two important topics of control and protection of industrial and commercial installation works as well as installation design have been dealt comprehensively. Finally a brief working of distribution substations is given.

Objective

The course aims to give the electrical engineers, managers and technicians a thorough understanding of basic electrical circuits, standards and codes, electric supply systems and equipments. It also deals with the wiring and installation work for domestic and commercial buildings, and industries. Another main objective is to provide the information of protection and control system with the devices used in industrial and commercial buildings. One of the major goals is to acquire a thorough idea of the grounding methods, shock hazard and residual current device. Emphasis is also given on installation design aspects and on the working of distribution substations.
