INTRODUCTION
Corporate financing instruments such as shares, bonds, convertibles and warrants enable companies to raise capital when they are in need of funding. Over the past two decades, companies together with investment bankers have been highly innovative in introducing and employing corporate financing instruments in raising capital. Besides, various significant corporate exercises have been introduced to undertake these capital raising (and repayment) efforts. This programme aims to discuss the major corporate financing instruments and exercises which have been used by listed companies in the recent capital raising (and repayment) exercises in Malaysia. It also includes discussions on the mechanism, utilisation of proceeds, sensible reasons for using the instruments, issuing strategies as well as the operational aspects of the instruments. More importantly, it explores the financial impacts of these corporate financing instruments and exercises on current and future financial performance and position of the listed companies.
